Scoliosis Rehab Clinic Now Open in Phoenix

Elizabeth Garrett, DPT, of Paradise Valley, AZ and Nancy McVeigh, PTA, of Phoenix, AZ, traveled to Stevens Point, Wisconsin to receive specialized training and certification in the treatment of scoliosis.
They.studied with Beth Janssen and Patti Orthwein of Scoliosis Rehab, as well as Dr. Manuel Rigo, MD, PhD of the Elena Salva Clinic in Barcelona, Spain.
These practitioners join a select group of physical therapists around the globe who have been certified in conservative, three-dimensional treatment for scoliosis and other spinal deformities.
Dr. Garrett directs the west coast clinical operations for Scoliosis Rehab, Inc. “We are pleased to have been chosen to introduce this method of conservative care to the southwest. For eighty years in Europe, physical therapists have been working as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside physicians and orthotists to treat patients suffering from scoliosis and other spinal problems. Now, American patients can benefit from medical professionals collaborating on their care.”
The original teachings of Katharina Schroth and later, her daughter, Christa Lennert Schroth form the foundation of conservative care as taught by the Barcelona School of Scoliosis Rehabilitation. The Scoliosis Rehab, Inc instructors, under the tutelage of Manuel Rigo, MD, PhD have taken these European techniques and modified them to meet the unique social and cultural needs of the American patient and healthcare system.
