Scoliosis Rehab Inc. was founded by two mothers who unexpectedly found themselves dealing with adolescents with scoliosis. No strong family history, no previous fears - just one day it was discovered and they were thrown into the system.
Beth Janssen has over 20 years of experience as a practicing Physical Therapist and Rhonda Campo has over 20 years of experience in the healthcare and biotech arenas. By the time Rhonda had searched the medical literature for a conservative, non-surgical treatment, Beth was already a Certified Schroth Therapist. Both of their children have been trained in the exercises for scoliosis by Dr. Manuel Rigo, MD from Barcelona, Spain. Learning this method (which is called the Barcelona Scoliosis Physical Therapy School (BSPTS) and is based on the original work of Katharina Schroth) dramatically improved their children’s ability to accept and individually manage their scoliosis, change the shape of their torso, and improve their vital capacity. They were grateful for the impact that conservative scoliosis treatment has had on their children and families, and wanted to share the non-surgical treatment with adults and adolescents in the U.S.

When I first found out I had scoliosis, I was worried it wouldn't get better. When I went to Scoliosis Rehab, they taught me new ways to remind myself to keep good posture. They taught me good techniques to help keep my pelvis stable and put less strain on the back. I was very happy when I found out my last x-ray showed no change. It's good to know that I do these exercises at home by myself.

Our program is modeled after the outpatient BSPTS program used at the E. Salva Institute for Rehabilitation of Spinal Deformities in Barcelona, Spain. The clinic in Spain is directed by Dr. Manuel Rigo MD, a world renowned professor and Physician specializing in conservative management of scoliosis. We have worked with Dr Rigo training Physical Therapists in the United States since 2004; in January, 2012 we certified our first group at the Advanced Level!
