Nancy at Scoliosis Rehab in San Jose is wonderful and she has helped my eleven year old daughter tremendously. She is a very knowledgeable, kind and caring physical therapy professional specializing in Schroth-based Method. Nancy is always willing to help answer questions, while we navigate this path for scoliosis treatment and care. Nancy genuinely works to ensure that patients understand the targeted muscles, while learning exercises to help bodies reach their core strength. She creates individualized programs of treatment for our daughter to reach her goals, while at the same time building confidence to take what is learned at Scoliosis Rehab and practice at home. Nancy has the resources; experience and understanding that makes us feel we are truly getting the very best care possible.

Nancy is, in a nutshell, simply wonderful. Patient and funny, she knew just what to say to my daughter when teaching her the Schroth exercises and to motivate her to be more mindful about her posture and back health. She made sure that both my daughter and I understood exactly how to do all the exercises and, importantly, why we did each exercise. When I had questions or concerns, Nancy always explained thoroughly in such a way that a non-therapist could understand, which really helped me understand things that up until that point I didn’t quite get (such as how the spine twists with scoliosis).
More than being an expert in Schroth Therapy though, Nancy’s expertise as a mom who knows scoliosis well was invaluable. She had various tips and tricks to help us navigate the scoliosis world. Sharing a few stories of her own, she empowered me to advocate more for my daughter and not give up my power to health care professionals. This came in handy when I had to tell our doctor that we’d gone against his advice to wear a Charleston night brace and went for a 22-hr.-a-day Wood-Rigo- Cheneau brace instead (!).
Honestly, I can’t say enough about Nancy. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to people who want the best – someone who is knowledgeable, competent, warm and supportive but also a you- gotta-do- the-work- if-you- want-the- results kind of person.
Our daughter visited Nancy Sherratt in December, 2015 and spent two weeks with her in scoliosis therapy. Nancy designed specific exercises based on Lydia’s curve pattern. Each day as they worked together, Nancy was positive and consistent giving clear directions with the goal that we could return home and continue the exercises on our own. The notebook she prepared with detailed instructions and pictures as well as videos we took of each exercise have been extremely helpful so that we have stayed on track with our program at home. Our daughter has already received compliments from others that can see a difference. I highly recommend Nancy as a skilled Schroth therapist.

Before I went to therapy at Nancy’s clinic, I didn’t really feel like going. After my first day I felt more confident because Nancy was so encouraging. Her approach to my therapy was positive and I felt welcomed by her warm spirit. What also helped was her clear definition of what she wanted me to do. She also gave me a notebook to take home that really helped me understand an exercise if I was ever to forget it. I think Nancy knows what she is doing and it shows in the way that she acts and in her work. When our time was done in San Jose, I was a half inch taller and at home my ballet teacher told my mom that I am a stronger and more beautiful dancer. –Lydia Manaois
